Hard Red Winter Wheat Whole Berries

​These wheat berries (whole wheat kernels) are heritage Warthog hard red winter wheat grown in Funks Grove. Unprocessed and straight from the field, they retain all their fiber, nutrition, and flavor. What can you do with them, you ask? Boil and simmer until tender to make a breakfast cereal (delicious with Funks Grove Pure Maple Sirup!), savory side, or salad topping. Basic cooking instructions are included on the back of the bag, and recipe ideas are available on our Recipes page. Or, use any powerful blender or grinder you’ve already got at home to mill up the freshest, most nutritious flour you’ve ever had.​

Evolving from our popular "pancake cookies," this cookie mix delivers delicious, thick, chewy, and satisfying whole wheat cookies with a touch of pure maple sugar. Add chocolate chips (we like using mini chips), dried or frozen fruit, nuts, or whatever else your heart desires!

This is our farm's first-ever baking mix, and it remains our most popular. We've learned over time that there are people who apparently don't like pancakes (news to us!) but who will make an exception for our stoneground whole wheat pancakes. Sweetened with a touch of Funks Grove Pure Maple sugar, this is how pancakes are supposed to be.

The Whole Four Acres Pancake Mix ​

Some folks think that the best pancakes contain cornmeal, and since we grow delicious deep orange Floriani flint corn, we thought we’d try them out. We consulted with some experts and experimented until we came up with a recipe that used all four acres of our crop rotation in 2019. These pancakes are a perfect combination of fluffy and crunchy, with just a little sweetness from Funks Grove Pure Maple Sugar.

Our Jonnycake mix is based on the rich color and flavor of an heirloom flint corn variety called Floriani that we've loved growing on our farm the past few years. We then kick it up with Funks Grove Pure Maple Sugar and a dash of salt. Think of it like an all-corn pancake, but know that it takes longer to cook, and it will absorb all the butter in your pan and then some. The result is a crunchy, toasty cake that wows with flavor. Delicious topped with sweet or savory toppings, like Funks Grove Pure Maple Sirup or salsa & sour cream! This mix also can be substituted for regular cornmeal in any recipe for improved flavor, texture, and heartiness.
Note: While we do not add any gluten-containing ingredients to this mix, we do not recommend this for anyone with a severe gluten allergy. Although we take great pains to avoid it, we cannot rule out accidental contact with our wheat flour.

Start your day happy and healthy with our hearty maple bran muffins. These are great fresh out of the oven, and only get better if you mix in some fruit or nuts. We use Funks Grove Pure Maple Sirup as our liquid sweetener of course, but you can also use other syrups or some local honey. We've had rave reviews of our muffins from folks young and old, and we think you'll love them too.

These satisfying snacks are a local, healthier version of fruit roll-ups that definitely "wow" with flavor! We've combined fresh, local fruit with Funks Grove Pure Maple Sirup to create a delicious, nutritious, long-lasting fruit leather snack that we call Fruit Wowzers!
- Our Apple Pie flavor combines our own heritage apples with maple sirup plus a touch of cinnamon and salt so you can take homemade apple pie goodness with you wherever you go.
​- Black Currant Jam, our "original" flavor, is made from fruit from our farm, and with its intense sweet-tart-sour flavor, you'll know how we came up with the name "wowzers!"
- Ginger Pear combines local pears with the warm spice of local farm-grown ginger, plus pure maple sirup and salt, to create a snack that first invigorates and then soothes your palate.
​- Martian Grape Jelly is made with our Mars grapes, a black seedless variety that was established on our farm more than a decade ago. These may be straight from our farm, but we think you'll agree that their just-off-the-vine grape flavor is out of this world!

- Peach Nectar is a celebration of our first-ever peach harvest and it lets the peach flavor shine! Nothing but fruit and maple sirup here. First you'll say "mmm" and then you'll say "WOW"!
- Our Pear Cobbler flavor is made from pears grown by our neighbors, combined with maple sirup, cinnamon, and salt to create a sweet, subtle treat that celebrates the fruit's light floral decadence.


Yellow, Butterfly, and Bumblebee Popcorn

28-ounce bag (4 cups popcorn kernels)

​Cooking suggestion: Coat bottom of 3-qt. pan with 3 Tbsp. high-heat oil. Place over medium-high heat. Once hot, add 1/3 c. kernels; cover with tight-fitting lid. Cook, shaking pan occasionally, until there are more than 3 seconds between pops. Pour into a bowl. Sprinkle 1 tsp. Maple Ramp Seasoning over popcorn. Stir to coat evenly. Makes about 8 cups of popped popcorn.

Maple Ramp Seasoning

You won't find a seasoning like this anywhere else. Made with Funks Grove Pure Maple Sugar and wild ramps harvested right here in the grove, plus salt and black pepper, this sweet-and-savory blend is good on just about everything: try it as a rub on steak, chicken or fish; on roasted vegetables, French fries, or the seasoning in a dressing; sub it for garlic on garlic bread; and of course it's perfect on our yellow popcorn. We even like it sprinkled on eggs and toast for breakfast!
Funks Grove is well known for its rich sugar maple forest, but that forest is also home to a robust colony of native ramps. Ramps are a native species of onion, Allium tricoccum, that emerge in the spring as the maple sirup season begins to wind down. We harvest just the leaf tops to leave their roots completely intact, and turn it into a fine, bright-green powder. This seasoning is a real "taste of the grove" and is a testament to the health and bounty of these old forest soils.

Shiitake Garlic Seasoning

This was a big step for our farm, the first of our sauces that combine our own fruit with Funks Grove Pure Maple Sirup.
​(For those who love black raspberries but not the seeds, never fear—we’ve removed the seeds!)

Take it from the creator: “It’s simply the best. There’s no better way to describe it. This combines what I think are the two most delicious things that come from Funks Grove.” Katie loves the grove’s wild black raspberries more than any other fruit, and this sauce combines those with the sweetness of Funks Grove Pure Maple Sirup—nothing else added. The result is a dark, intensely rich sweet-tart sauce that borders on chocolatey decadence.

Frozen Pawpaw Purée

Note: Do not dehydrate; will cause stomach upset.
Pawpaws are a native fruit that grows on trees in Funks Grove and rich, wet woodlands across much of the Midwest and eastern US. We harvest them wild, then remove the skins and seeds to make this purée, leaving just the custard-like pulp, which has flavors ranging from mango and banana to peach and melon. Pawpaw is delicious in smoothies, dressings, cocktails/mocktails, cakes, muffins, pies, bread, jams, ice cream, and more! You can even substitute pawpaw for eggs in our pancake mix recipe (1/4 cup per egg) or add to our muffin mix recipe (1/2 cup).
